Slight Diversion from Paint - Interior

Slight diversion from the restoration of the bodywork and paint.

I had the roof, quarters and doors to do on the exterior.

Weather was too hot, windy and loads of pollen floating around the last few weeks.

Slight diversion..... Moved onto the interior!

It was always on the list of things to do but I decided to move onto it. Mainly due to wanting to do something nice, clean and improvements.

So this was the original state of the interior.

The seats and panels are OK. Carpet was missing in some areas. Dirty and full of grime.

Pulled up the carpets and started removing the tar boards.

Horrible mess of tar boards. Lots of scraping and hoovering. Most of the floorpan was original paint with just a little surface rust where water was sitting.

The area painted by previous owner in blue what looks like hammerite (horrible paint!) was very rusty. Rear luggage shelf and right hand

Lots of wire brushing with the angle grinder over a few days.

Rust converter FE-123 was then coated all areas. Only a few holes which require patches on the rear luggage shelf. Left for now and on the backlog. At least they won't get much worse for now.

So once final degrease and hoover. Ready for two thick coats of Epoxy Mastic 121.

Then to move onto installing sound deadening and insulation tape and start installation of carpet set.

Its not perfect but the carpet was OK quality. It was a E-Bay bargain at only £57.99! So can't complain. No instructions and NO cutouts for any holes and quite tricky to fit but managed to do it in a day!

Quite pleased by the result and so much better.

A few finishing jobs to do such as vent covers, seat belts and headlining repair and clean.

Got some stock RHD rubber mats to protect the front and rear foot wells.
